One of Madrid's biggest cultural events is back! The Madrid Book Fair, or Feria del Libro, will be held during the spring, as it does every year, in order to encourage people in the city to read and enjoy books.

When will the Madrid Feria del Libro take place?
Madrid’s Feria del Libro wThe Feria del Libro de Madrid will run from 26 May to 11 June. It’s going to be 90 years since the event was founded in 1933, with the aim of promoting book sales.
Its journey was interrupted by the Spanish Civil War, so this is the 82nd edition of an event that has become the largest Book Fair in Spain.

The public can visit the Fair's stands at the following times:
- Monday to Thursday: from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm and from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
- Saturdays and Sundays: from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm and from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
What is the location of the Feria del Libro?
The Madrid Book Fair has been held in El Retiro Park since 1967, when the number of requests for participation increased and it became necessary to find a new venue. This year too, there will be some changes in the Fair design to make space for more books.
The dozens of stands of the Feria are usually distributed along the avenue of Paseo de Coches, which you can access through the Puerta de Madrid door in the park.
Programme of the Feria del Libro 2023
As always, there are numerous conferences, workshops, presentations and book signings during the Madrid Book Fair.
In 2023, the Journalistic Book Workshop, led by the Argentinean writer and journalist Martín Caparrós, will be returning. This is an event that brings together Ibero-American professionals who are working on writing a book. The youngest visitors to the Fair will be able to take part in the event "The little giants of reading", in which children aged 10 are invited to read aloud a literary text of their choice.
Of course, there will be plenty of places where visitors can buy books and find out about new literary releases. In addition, many authors offer free book signings.
